Do you have a cookbook with a bookmark on one specific page? I do. It’s page 108.
I’ve probably mentioned this book before. It’s The Boat Galley Cookbook: 800 Everyday Recipes and Essential Tips for Cooking Aboard by Carolyn Sherlock and Jan Irons. I’ve added it to the “Our Picks” section of the Reader’s Record app because it’s so good.
Page 108 is where I turn to cook boiled eggs perfectly at any consistency, without the dreaded green layer around the yolk. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at that page over the years, and yes, it has a bookmark!
There are two reasons I’m writing about this book:
It’s packed with hundreds of great recipes.
It’s written for people with small kitchens and limited storage, whether in a studio apartment or aboard a boat. Space is a priority, so keeping ingredients to a minimum still lets you make good-tasting meals.
I’ve made main dishes, desserts, breads, and side dishes from it. The tips are especially helpful when you need to whip something up quickly to bring to sundowners, when a fleet of boats gathers to share food and drink while the sun sets.
April and I, aboard Avemar, highly recommend it, and we think it would be a great addition to the bookshelf in your kitchen or pantry!
