Seven Seas Cruising Association 2022 Photo Contest Winner
The Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) is proud to announce their 2022 Annual Photo Contest winning photograph. "Osprey Dinner," by Bill Blevins (SV Avemar), was chosen as the winner.
Second place was "Sunset at Belhaven Marina" by Salvatore Salviam (SV Sparkle Plenty), with third place awarded to Skip Gundlach (SV Flying Pig), "Heading South."
Bill Blevins' photograph is an amazing image, captured with extreme precision during a bird of prey's flight. Clear, crisp, and made with a long telephoto lens from onboard, Mr. Blevins' photography expertise is exceptional.
The second place winner, "Sunset at Belhaven," composes an excellent capture of sunset and water features with the marina backdrop. The theme of stormy skies giving way to a beautiful sunset again shares a topic familiar to our boaters.
Due to the quality of the works, its took two ballots to determine the winner, with only a very slim margin of win.
The SSCA Photo Contest program is headed by Hartley Gardner, who organizes the submissions and posts the photographs on the SSCA website. For twelve months during the year, members submit monthly entries. The entries are voted on by members, with the results published in the Cruisers' Bulletin monthly. At the annual meeting, members vote for the yearly winner, whose submission is then highlighted in a Waterway Guide issue. Each photograph is of a marine or cruising topic, taken by members while on the water as cruisers. SSCA photo albums are also published on the website.
SSCA has promoted the photo contest as a way for members to share their special experiences on the water with others, both cruisers and non-cruisers. Its is a way to showcase the amazing lifestyle we all enjoy on the waterways and oceans of the world. Our partner, Waterway Guide also shares this enjoyment of the places we cruise.
The SSCA is proud to have our winning 2022 Photo Contest Winner, "Osprey Dinner" showcased in a future Waterway Guide.
