Congratulations on taking First Place in the Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) 2022 Annual Photo Contest with your winning photograph. "Osprey Dinner"! My first encounter with these magnificent birds of prey was on my Great Loop solo voyage aboard the S/V Sea Marie. They got rather close to me, I guess being a 22ft sailboat didn't faze them as a threat but sure did provide a close up treat for me and Mickey my sailing cat. Keep on shooting and sharing your photos!

Thank you Henry. That osprey was in Cobb Island, MD and I took the photo last September. Today here in Stuart, FL, I learned that the Osprey that sits atop the sailboat masts in this marina is locally referred to as: George. It's unknown at the moment if George is a sole bird or if any osprey that lands here is called George.

George is a fitting name for the Osprey. I have noticed his cousins have made it this far north in northeast Ohio to call their home. I have seen a breeding pair just south of Akron on a kayak float a couple of years ago. Eagles are making a big comeback here as well. Very few birds can match the color and pattern display of an osprey wing. Again, thanks for sharing.
