I asked ChatGPT to look at the data that was captured and shared along with the image in my Notes post this morning. I was looking for the specific location where I made the image but Chad's reply was much more interesting and I thought it would be a good article. Let me know if you test some of your photos. What did you find? Do you care? Are you changing anything in your process?
I ran a photo through ChatGPT. The technical photo info was there, but no geo data. I have location info turned off on my phone, except maps.
Then I uploaded screenshots of the photo info from screenshots of the same photo from Photos and Google Photos. This confirmed for ChatGPT that my location could not be determined by hidden metadata, though street signs, geographic hints, etc. could reveal my location.
Interesting article. I turned off all my location services last year. It takes longer for “near me” searches, but I can live with that.
